Interfaith Peace Working Group
Communities of faith and conscience committed to justice, peace and the care of creation. IPWG educates the public about the practice of nonviolence and advocates for peace.
Mission Statement
Interfaith Peace Working Group’s (IPWG) mission is to reduce violence in human interactions, from the personal to the global level, through:
Education in interpersonal nonviolent conflict resolution and nonviolent resistance to injustice as taught by Mahatma Gandhi and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Advocacy for our government to reduce military spending and take the lead in cooperating with other nations to eliminate weapons of mass destruction and abolish war.
Vision Statement
Inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of the Beloved Community, IPWG envisions a world in which people live with an awareness of their interconnectedness with one another and with all life. All people live in health, security, and dignity — free from discrimination and economic and political systems that produce inequality and suffering. Resources are directed toward human and ecological needs rather than war and militarism. Nations resolve conflict through nonviolent methods, in order to preserve human life and the natural systems on which all life on Earth depends.
