WISDOM Webinar on voting this fall….

On November 3rd, Wisconsin voters will be asked to decide whether to amend our state constitution regarding how governmental entities may consider race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, public contracting, and public administration.

Unlike an ordinary state law, a constitutional amendment becomes part of Wisconsin’s governing document and is significantly more difficult to change in the future.

Discrimination is already prohibited under Wisconsin and federal law in many areas of public life. The proposed amendment would add new constitutional language governing how state and local governments may use certain policies and programs related to protected characteristics.

The amendment could have implications for areas including public education, public employment, public contracting, community assistance programs, workforce initiatives, and health-related equity efforts.

Join our friends at League of Women Voters for a panel of guest speakers to learn more about the constitutional amendment appearing on Wisconsin’s November 3 ballot and its potential impact on public education, employment, contracting, government programs, and communities across the state. Register here for the Wed Sept 8th zoom call, 4:30 pm
