SAVE the Dates! January 11-12th in Madison January Unity Gathering 2025

Please be aware, it is looking like the January Unity Gathering will “sell-out.” We will be sad for any who might not get to join us “in-person” after we have reached our participant limit of 80 people. Our hope and plan is to provide a Zoom connection for people who can’t join us in person. If we are able to make that work, a Zoom link will be sent out to all who register.

Register TODAY!

Please reserve your “in-person” or virtual place at this 2-day gathering by registering here: tinyurl.com/JUG-Registration

  • On Saturday and Sunday we will meet in the WI State Capitol until 4 pm (GAR Hall (413N) and the North Hearing Room)

  • On Saturday evening there will be a celebratory supper and program from 5 - 9 pm at the Crossing (1127 University Ave.)

  • For more info, visit the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/442260482072483/

This will be a two-day gathering (January 11-12, 2025) to strengthen our unity and plans for advancing world peace, justice, sustainability, and democracy throughout Wisconsin. There will be overnight accommodations available for those who are coming from outside of the Madison area. If you're looking for accommodation or if you can provide a space for an overnight guest, please let Judy Miner know judeminer@gmail.com.

WISDOM's Statewide Immigration Task Force Zoom Call – Monday, Jan 13th 6:30 pm

In recent years, our affiliates have worked on campaigns involving passing driver's licenses for people who are undocumented, fighting for DACA, and supporting immigrants in the pandemic or through refugee resettlement programs.

Currently, we are supporting many bills in the legislature that support DACA recipients including offering in-state tuition, professional licenses and a tax credit.

We meet virtually the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. You can find the Zoom information below.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. For any questions, please contact WISDOM's Immigration Organizer, Amanda Ali at aali@wisdomwisconsin.org. See you then!

  • 1/6 @ 7:00pm-8:10pm: 350 WI Monthly Meeting – Rights of Nature. ONLINE VIA ZOOM: Register in advance for the meeting here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting via computer, tablet, or smartphone. Rights of Nature is a global movement that explores the concept that natural ecosystems, species, and elements, such as rivers, forests, and mountains, have inherent rights to exist, thrive, and evolve. This idea challenges traditional legal systems that treat nature as property to be exploited, advocating instead for laws that recognize nature’s intrinsic value. Our speaker, Anahkwet (Guy Reiter), will cover key principles, such as the right of nature to be protected from harm, the right of ecosystems to regenerate, and the right of communities to defend nature from environmental degradation. He will also present case studies of the successful integration of Rights of Nature into legal frameworks, such as in Ecuador and New Zealand, and will examine the growing movement to enshrine these rights in national, state, tribal, and international law. Anahkwet (Guy Reiter) is a traditional Menominee who resides on the Menominee Reservation. He’s the Executive Director of a Menominee Indian community organization called Menikahnaehkem. He is also a community organizer, activist, author, amateur archaeologist, and lecturer. Anahkwet has organized a lot of events that have uplifted the human condition and demonstrated how enriching the Menominee culture is. He has lectured at universities on the connection Menominee Indians have to the Menominee River. He has also written articles for Environmental Health News and other publications. When Anahkwet isn’t working, you’ll find him enjoying time with his partner and their children. Anahkwet is an advocate for Indigenous people everywhere. contact@350wisconsin.org
