We hope that your Climate Emergency Day activities brought you hope, happiness, as well as new connections, insights, and plans for continued action within your community.
For us in Madison, it certainly did! We had a great time from sunrise to sunset, made many new friends, deepend connections with old friends, and started making plans for new unity building initiatives.
Here is a glimpse of Madison's very full Climate Emergency Day!
We started the day with sunrise (5:39 am) meditation, movement, and morning banner and sign holding at Law Park on the shoreline of Lake Monona.
At 8:30 am, Youth activists from Action for the Climate Emergency (ACE), our noon rally/concert performers - Eoin and Emma, and I got to share information about Climate Emergency Day on the WORT 8 O'clock Buzz. You can listen to our interviews and hear a bit of Eoin and Emma playing part of a song - Kickapoo here: www.wortfm.org/monbuzz240722-3-climate-emergency-day
At noon we held a small but powerful rally and concert on the State St. Steps of the State Capitol. A recording of a portion of that rally can be seen here:

At 1:00 pm, we started a Press Conference in the State Capitol. A recording of a portion of that press conference can be seen here: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/w6uxo3rq6zkj3GFg/
At 3:00 pm, many of us took an hour-long bike ride around downtown, campus, and the near west and east sides of Madison.
At 5:00 pm we started gathering for a “UnityMobile” ride out to the Farley Center for Peace, Justice, and Sustainability. We had an amazing feast thanks to our supporting friends at El Sabor De Puebla Mexican Restaurant, Healthy Food For All, and the Farley Center!
Below are a couple of the initiatives that have come out of our organizing for Climate Emergency Day - Wisconsin.
Check out "Unity 4 Climate" and other project-pages.
We’ve started to create banners, signs, buttons, bumper stickers, fliers, hashtags, and more that include the following "tinyurls/Messages”
Madison Cycling Activist Group:
Inspired by our Climate Emergency Day “Ride for the Climate” a group of Madison-area cyclists are planning to continue using our bikes as “vehicles” for advocacy, solidarity, resistance, and awareness-raising. More info at: https://tinyurl.com/Cyclists4Unity
Thanks again, for all that you did to make Wisconsin a state where Climate Emergency Day 2024 was seen and felt! With your help, it will be even bigger next year!
Please save the dates and consider playing a part in any of these upcoming statewide Building Unity projects:
August 24: tinyurl.com/BU-at-Echo-Valley - Our summer Statewide Building Unity Gathering
September 21: tinyurl.com/Peace-Day-WI-Info - Wisconsin will celebrate and call for peace on U.N. International Day of Peace
