Get ready for U.N. International Women’s Day - March 8, 2025. (There’s never been a better time work for the rights, equality, and empowerment of Women, Girls, and ALL female-presenting individuals.)

This year’s U.N. International Women’s Day theme is “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” If ever there was a time to celebrate and fight for these goals for women and girls, it is NOW! ALL women. ALL girls. And, we will add, for ALL female-presenting individuals.

Please sign on to this letter of information and support for the “Women’s Day - Wisconsin” project by doing any of the following:

  • Use International Women’s Day as an opportunity to raise awareness about the critical importance of the April 1st election for the next Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice. The March to Election Day Tour

(March 8 - April 1)

25 straight days - Stopping in all 12 of Wisconsin’s Sovereign Indigenous Nations - and sharing powerful tour stop events in over 30 Wisconsin communities.

Whether you join us for our Women’s Day launch from the Wisconsin State Capitol on Saturday, March 8th or you join us for any stop or segment of this 25 day tour, please go here: tinyurl.com/Tour-Support-Sign-up and show your support!

In these times of uncertainty and rising oligarchic authoritarian rule, it is essential that we:

  1. Find ourselves and each other,

  2. Unite for the protection of each other, our planet, and our democracy,

  3. And, get organized and maximize our people power to transform our world.

The March to Election Day Tour can help us to do all three. At each tour stop we’ll listen and learn; share plans and ideas; show up for each other, take turns, and explore the possibilities of United Action. At most of the tour stops, we will hold 2 distinct events (thereby increasing the potential for participation by a wide variety of groups). Both will be “nonpartisan” and issue-oriented.

  • One of these two events will focus on the April 1st WI Supreme Court Race. It will stress its importance that this race holds for human rights, our environment, our democracy, and all aspects of our lives in Wisconsin. These events will also celebrate and spotlight the work of the local groups who are working to turn out the vote on or before April 1st. We will also give Supreme Court candidates opportunities to share their views and values at these events by answering the questions of the people.

Groups that are working on these or other justice issues are invited to fully co-host and lead these events. All justice partners are free to table, present, and share their work, literature, etc… at these events.

  • The other of these two distinct events will be an “All People’s Forum” where groups and individuals can share information as well as action plans and ideas related to any of the critical issues of our time. Here are just some of the issues that may be addressed at any of these events:

    • Ending U.S. support for genocide and crimes against humanity.

    • Learning how we can better keep each other safe (especially our immigrant, BIPOC, Muslim, and transgender neighbors.)

    • Helping Indigenous water protectors Stop Line 5!

    • Demanding universal health care that includes legal and safe abortion care.

    • Educating and activating voters to realize the extreme importance of the April 1st Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

    • Closing at least one Wisconsin Prison this year.

    • Getting people connected and helping to organize a united movement for peace, justice, sustainability and democracy.

Groups that are participating in either of these events will be free to present, table, share liturature, and have a part in creating the event(s).

Both of these distinct types of tour stop events will provide communities around Wisconsin with opportunities to find each other and ways to work together for our collective safety and liberation.

And in April.....a Unity Gathering in Milwaukee!

It will be an opportunity for groups who work for peace, justice, sustainability, and/or democracy to unite and explore collaborative action in a big way.

* Day 1 (April 5th) will contain facilitated conversations about how to build a statewide coordination network between our groups.

* Day 2 (April 6th) will be optional. Those who are able to give a second day to this project can start forming working groups that will start working on the plans made on Day 1.

* Save the dates (April 5th & 6th, 2025) and plan on sending one - three representatives from your group. Times - TBD.

Each of your group’s representative(s) should apply here: tinyurl.com/AUG-Application. If for any reason, your group needs to send more than three representatives, please call Building Unity and let us know (608-630-3633).

* Sign on (tinyurl.com/AUG-Invitation-Letter-Sign-on) and share this Invitation Letter (tinyurl.com/AUG-Invite-Letter) with groups that you’d like to share the gathering with.

* Help Create the April Unity Gathering by dropping in on any portions of our two weekly planning meetings: Weds. at 10:00 am or Thurs. at 5:00 pm via Zoom - Call Building Unity to get the Zoom link. (608-630-3633)
