On Tuesday, July 26, the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPA) of 2022 with a strong bipartisan vote of 401-20.
The bill reauthorizes the historic Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 and provides more than $1 billion over five years to strengthen both the domestic and international response to the second largest criminal enterprise in the world – human trafficking.
It now awaits consideration by the Senate.
