A small group of dedicated members constitutes the Sustainability Team. Co-chairs are Nancy Vedder-Shults and Janice Knapp-Cordes.
We have three committees:  Array It Forward, Green Sanctuary, and Transportation.
Array It Forward, chaired by Nancy Vedder-Shults and Mark Shults, solicits donations to put solar panels on the roofs of non-profits and faith institutions. They have an excellent arrangement with Renew Wisconsin. Donations of any amount at any time can be made at, and put Array It Forward in the memo line.
Green Sanctuary is chaired by Liz Hachten.
Transportation is chaired by Janice Knapp-Cordes.

Helping with Meals for Healing House:
Another congregation signed up for November 21-27, but their volunteer coordinator has a family emergency, so they have asked us to help. If we cannot fill these spots, we will share the openings with the other congregation, but if any of you would like to donate a meal next week, here is your chance! Sign up HERE.
Other opportunities to give to those in need:
The Holiday Giving Tree Sponsorship for Families with The Road Home is upon us. This year, The Road Home is asking for gift cards and gift baskets.  Our congregation is sponsoring three families this year. Sign up HERE to help. All gifts are due by Friday, December 10, and can be mailed or dropped off directly to The Road Home (890 W. Wingra Dr. Madison- 53715). If you would like to contribute less than $50 or if you would like help with getting your gift to The Road Home, write to Sara and Kayo at
Between now and December 10, First Unitarian Society will serve as a drop-off site for gently used sleeping bags, tents, warm flannel or wool shirts, sweaters, fleeces, and heavy pants that can be used by all those who are homeless and living outdoors. Warm men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing are all needed, especially in the larger sizes.  These can be dropped off anytime in the labeled bins in the Landmark Entrance foyer.
