First Fridays: The People Call for a Just Budget May 7

Event Dates:
First Unitarian Society - Madison holds monthly social justice film showings on the first Friday of most months.
The May 7th event, 6:30 pm,  will be a little different than the usual format. Rather than showing one feature-length film, FUS-Madison, a partner in the Coalition for a Just Budget, will be sharing several short volunteer-made videos that began as written articles, letters, or testimonials calling for justice in the state budget.
Join the fun by writing a short testimony of your own. What do you want to make sure is funded in this upcoming two-year budget? Send your written testimony on your budget priority (approx. 200 words), along with a photo of yourself to or call her at 608-935-5834.
If you act soon, you might just find your words and a picture of you in one of the videos that we watch on Friday, May 7th.
After we watch the videos, there will be a brief discussion about the state budget and what we can do to increase the chances that it contains measures for much needed justice. We will end the evening by giving all participants the opportunity to share and record their own two-minute testimony. We will then make sure that these recorded testimonies are delivered to the Wisconsin Joint Finance Committee and/or are a part of the videos that we are sharing widely.
Come make history with us! This pro-justice event is being co-sponsored by:
First Unitarian Society, the Coalition for a Just WI Budget, Family Farm Defenders, Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice, and others. Register to get the film link at:
