DESCRIPTION:\nThe Teach-In is set for Tuesday, September 29th – 6:00 pm – 175 Curtin Hall, 3243 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53211\n\n\n\nOn the evening before the G20 trade ministers hold their summit in Milwaukee, join experts and activists speaking about the global trade regime and a real alternative.\n\n\n\nMultinational corporations and Wall Street investors created the global trade regime, which has devastated workers, farmers, the environment, and democratic governance.  \n\n\n\nFor the first time in decades, a new forward to an alternative ordering of global trade rules is possible. But only if working people name it and organize around it.\n\n\n\nThis teach-in will feature a panel discussion led by John Nichols, Washington editor of the Nation Magazine, associate editor of the Madison Capital Times, interviewing Wisconsin and international voices, including:\n\n\n\n\nLabor leader John Drew, former president of the United Auto Workers Local 72 in Kenosha and current chair of the UAW Wisconsin CAP Council; \n\n\n\nDairy farmer, renowned agriculture policy expert at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and farmers union activist Dr. Sarah Lloyd; \n\n\n\nHolly Bender, environmental leader and Chief Program Officer of the Sierra Club, who leads the Club’s national campaigns on energy, climate, conservation, and the outdoors\n\n\n\nLeading international advocate of fair trade (and Wisconsin native), Lori Wallach, founder of Global Trade Watch and leader of the ReThink Trade program at the American Economic Liberties Project.  \n\n\n\n\nPrior to the panel, attendees will be welcomed by Sam Odin, a Milwaukee-area farmer and leader of the Wisconsin Farmers Union, and Anthony Rainey, former president of UAW Local 469 at Master Lock in Milwaukee. \n\n\n\nPlease RSVP in advance (so organizers can properly plan for attendance).\n\n\n\nThe teach-in is sponsored by Rethink Trade, Citizens Trade Campaign, United Auto Workers Wisconsin CAP Council, Wisconsin Farmers Union, Milwaukee Area Labor Council, South Central Federation of Labor, the Wisconsin Economic Populist Project, Citizen Action of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Area Service &amp; Hospitality Workers Union, AFT Local 212, Our Wisconsin Revolution, Family Farm Defenders,  WNPJ, and Peace Action of Wisconsin.\n\n\n\n\n
