SUMMARY:Screening of the film “The Librarians” – Racine
DESCRIPTION:\nAcross the country, librarians are facing growing pressure over what books can be available on library shelves — particularly books addressing race and other topics at the center of today’s censorship debates.\n\n\n\nRacine Interfaith Coalition is cosponsoring a screening of The Librarians during Banned Books Week, a powerful documentary exploring the people on the front lines of these battles and the broader implications of censorship for education, libraries, and public life.\n\n\n\n Thursday, October 8, 2026 5:00–7:30 p.m.\n\n\n\n5:15 p.m. — Film Screening6:45 p.m. — Community Discussion\n\n\n\n Racine Public Library, 75 Seventh St., Racine, WI\n\n\n\nRefreshments will be served.\n\n\n\nFollowing the film, we’ll come together for a community conversation about how censorship efforts affect our Racine community, the importance of access to information, and the role each of us can play in protecting intellectual freedom.\n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the community.\n\n\n\nWe hope you’ll join us, bring a friend, and be part of the conversation.\n\n\n\nKind Regards,\n\n\n\nWalter Herman,RIC President\n\n\n\n\n
