Sam Mihara is a former prisoner at Heart Mountain Camp in Wyoming, one of America's racist Japanese internment camps. On July 11, Mihara will speak about mass incarceration, one of the few people former internment prisoners to speak about the experience.

Help to install more than 4,000 symbolic grave markers for the Annual Memorial Mile display! Madison Veterans for Peace, Clarence Kailin Chapter 25, is once again setting up the Memorial Mile in Olbrich Park on Saturday, May 27th, with set-up time at 9:00 am, and are looking for great volunteers. The Memorial Mile will be up from May 27th to June 3rd. Take-down time on June 3rd will be around 3:00 pm. Email info@madisonvfp.org or call the Chapter coordinator 608-231-9171.

On Wednesday May 3, 2017 at the Red Gym on campus (6:30 -8:30) the Madison Institute is sponsoring a panel on Mass Incarceration in Wisconsin.  Speakers are Professor Michael O'Hear (U.W. Milwaukee) and Professor Cecilia Klingele (U.W. Madison Law School) and Taliib Akbar, a former prisoner.
