"Safeguard the Guard: The Role of the Wisconsin National Guard in the War and How to Bring Them Home"

Are you concerned that our Wisconsin National Guard is overseas fighting an illegal war, rather than being here to serve our state?  Vermont State Representative Mike Fisher will be at the Peace Action Center (1001 E Keefe Ave) Monday, March 8th at 7pm to discuss this.  Representative Mike Fisher has been instrumental in drafting and moving the Bring the Guard Home legislation through the Vermont Legislature, and was able to garner 77 sponsors for it.  He will talk about this bill (AB 203 in Wisconsin), which requires the Governor to conduct a legal review of any federal request for overseas deployment of the Wisconsin National Guard and to refuse any deployment deemed to be unlawful.  The historical and current role of the National Guard in foreign wars will also be discussed.
