ACTIVIST MATTHEW BRAUNGINN TALKS ABOUT NEW WAYS TO RESPOND TO FIGHTS AT SCHOOL

Following recent fights at East High School, some parents are attributing the rise in violence to the absence of School Resource Officers. Listen to local activist Matthew Braunginn's podcast "Finding the Warm of Our Sun" to hear how "another district, which at the surface level seems to have had a worse fighting problem, solved this through community and community alternatives."

FREEDOM INC's FAQs

Local organization Freedom Inc., whose youth organizing is responsible for the MMSD school board's 2020 decision to end the contract with the Madison Police Department, fought long and hard to eliminate policing from the Madison Metropolitan School District. In the lead up to that win, they published an FAQ addressing the concerns most commonly voiced in opposition to that removal.
