Emergency Rally for Citizenship - Milwaukee Oct 28

Event Dates:
10/28/21

Thursday, October 28, 4 PM, Voices will hold a rally in front of Senator Tammy Baldwin's office in Milwaukee.

This is very important as the compromise package is aiming to exclude immigration reform now, and for the foreseeable future.

′′ Democrats: Citizenship Now!". Join us for an emergency rally for citizenship this Thursday at 4 pm on 633 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee.

′′ We're at a very key moment for immigration struggle with a path to citizenship," said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, the CEO of Border Voices. ′′ Senator Baldwin is a national leader inside the Democratic party. Since this budget will only be voted by Democrats, we want to ensure that the immigrant community is a priority."

Reforms could change the lives of immigrants like Eduardo Perea of Milwaukee. ′′ It's a world of opportunities that opens up for us for our children," Perea said the impact of reforms if they are approved.

Perea has lived more than 30 years in Wisconsin and hopes Democrats will hear their demands. ′′ I would say straight to [the Sen. Baldwin] May he keep his word that for us, for our community are where they are now, and that they owe that response to us," Perea said.

"Our message to Senator Baldwin, because she has a leadership position in the Senate and the vote is key there, is to really champion this and to come out publicly and say that Democrats should disregard the parliamentarian's decision and they should deliver the promise of citizenship," Christine Neumann-Ortiz, the executive director of Voces de la Frontera.
