Presentation of Open Doors for Refugees - zoom call Sept 26

Event Dates:
09/26/21

This Letters to the Border event is co-sponsored by Refuge at Christ Presbyterian Church, the Community Immigration Law Center (CILC) and Dane Sanctuary. We'll be hearing from a board member of Open Doors for Refugees about their work to help settle refugees in the Madison area. This is an especially timely topic now given the large numbers of Afghan refugees staying in Fort McCoy, some of whom may end up settling in Madison (although I understand that none have yet come here).

The details:

Sunday, September 26th, from 6:30-7:30 pm on zoom (please email me for the link; the poster is attached)

Open Doors for Refugees is a volunteer organization that helps refugees make a home in the Madison area. We are seeing a surge of new families arriving, eager to begin a new life and in need of much support to thrive in a new land. This evening will begin with a brief presentation about Open Doors for Refugees. Following this presentation, we will write letters of support to people caught in another part of the immigration system: the women, men, and children detained at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Example letters in English and Spanish and detail on supplies you’ll need are on Google Drive. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1f26vVDkh2fTU8QphmfA7NOy9_IF4nnTp
