Evensong Service Sept 23

Event Dates:
09/23/21

Please join the Wisconsin Council of ChurchesFirst Congregational UCC Madison and the Interfaith Peace Working Group for a monthly Evensong service.  In response to the needs of the world, we are hosting evenings of prayer, song, learning, and discussion. We hope that these services inspire faithful spiritual, social and political engagement.  We welcome people of all faiths or of no faith.

Join us on September 23 at 7:00 with Paula Rogge leading the presentation. Register here.

Paula Rogge is a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers). Two core beliefs of Friends is that there is that of God in everyone and that we must respect every person’s spiritual journey.

She has practiced as a family and emergency room physician for 38 years. She has been resisting war taxes for 40 years, “re-directing” what she owes in federal income taxes to peace groups and organizations working to meet basic human needs. In every city where she has lived, she has published op-eds or letters to the editor explaining why she is a resister. She has found support from many, sometimes in unexpected ways.

Invitation to Contribute Music: Additionally, if you have the capacity and interest, we are looking to expand our library of music we can share during the service (because of the Zoom client, we now share recordings of music instead of performing live). We are looking for music that is of the general flavor of "Taizé", as well as international and shape-note tunes (though recommendations of any variety are appreciated). Some proficiency in self-recording is desired, though we can work with you on this. Please email caleigh@workerjustice.org if you are interested or have any questions.

We look forward to seeing you there!
