Congress: Protect Our Water!

The Environmental Protection Agency recently announced, for the first time EVER, it will set limits on levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) being discharged into our waters. While welcomed, it'll take years to implement and it will not go far enough. But, there is legislation to jump-start protection of our drinking water from PFAS, NOW.

This action alert comes from Food & Water Action. Please urge our senators to support these two acts!

The PFAS Action Act of 2021 would:

Set drinking water standards for PFOA and PFOS (the two most studied PFAS chemicals);

Make polluters pay to clean up their contamination; and

Jump-start regulations to finally address the public health threat of PFAS.

The Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity and Reliability (WATER) Act would:

Provide a long-term, sustainable source of funding for safe and clean water; and

Provide funding so that states, localities and households can take real action to get per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), lead and other toxic substances out of water.

It's time to address this huge public health problem impacting the drinking water of communities across the country. Urge your senators to not wait for the EPA and pass the PFAS Action Act and the WATER Act of 2021.
