Development Director

Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice (WFVJ) seeks a part-time development director who can help expand our activities and increase our impact. In partnership with the executive director, the development director will spearhead fundraising efforts. Since this position is new, the person hired will have the opportunity to shape it as s/he sees fit.
WFVJ is a non-partisan, non-profit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. We draw on the wisdom, courage, and strength of our various faith traditions to advance the common good. Committed as progressive people of faith to crossing religious boundaries in order to uphold the dignity of all human beings, we advocate for the hungry, the poor, the sick, the marginalized, and the voiceless.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Devise and execute WFVJ’s annual fundraising plan
  • Devise and implement approaches to foundations and other grant-awarding agencies
  • Create a major donor program
  • Write direct mail appeals
  • Advise Executive Director and board on all fundraising initiatives
  • Track all initiatives and prepare reports for the executive director and WFVJ board
  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in development strongly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have own transportation, access to a laptop and cell phone
Working conditions:
  • The development director will work under the supervision of WFVJ Executive Director Rabbi Bonnie Margulis. S/he will work from home and meet weekly with Rabbi Margulis at a mutually agreed-upon location.  This can be a remote position if necessary.
  • $10,000 for 5 hours per week, April 1 to Dec. 31, 2020. Position renewable depending upon funding.
