Earth Month Forum: Immediate Environmental Issues in Our Own Backyards!
 
Thurs. April 11th 6:30pm Madison Central Library, Rm. 104 (201 W. Mifflin) Immediate Environmental Issues in Our Own Backyards: Water Contamination Issues and Cellphone Tower Expansion! 
 
Speakers include: Maria Powell, an environmental scientist and activist with the Midwest Environmental Justice Organization (MEJO); and Juliee de la Terre, a longtime activist and Director of the Sacred Water Sacred Land Institute, as well as owner of "Singing Trees" poly-cultural farm in Vernon County. 
 
Maria is currently involved with other environmental and community activists in investigating, speaking-out about and organizing against PFAS and other pollution in wells on Madison's East Side. Juliee will address the current 5G cellular roll out deal between in the US government and AT&T and how the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and WI State Statute 66.0404 attempts to abrogate our rights as citizens to oppose cell tower construction.
