Grannies Respond WI - Get on the Bus!

Event Dates:
Join the Wisconsin Caravan of Grannies Respond/Abuelas Respondes.
This response to in inhumanity happening at our border is organized by "grannies" but all who align with the vision are invited to join.
We have the opportunity to travel in the Merry Green Marvel - a refurbished tour bus, used for experiential ed and service learning trips. Steve, our driver is an experienced educator, community builder, and trip facilitator. Simple accommodations on the bus, and basic vegetarian meals will be provided.
We'll be leaving from Viroqua on July 31st, and head to Madison for 7/31 to morning of 8/1, and then south to Peoria, IL to join with community happenings that evening. On 8/2 we travel to Louisville, KY to link up with the main caravan, and travel with, or in proximity to them for the rest of the trip to the border.
This is a peaceful action, centered on what we DO want (love, safety, respect and care for ALL children and families). Our message will be delivered through the arts, and reaching out to those we meet along the way - sharing the intention of the trip, food/tea, creating art, and strengthening our common humanity. It will be clear that we stand for Kindness, Love, Generosity, Respect, Safety for all. We will create the world we wish to see en route.
Musicians, artists, storytellers, healing arts practitioners, and those who work with and care for youth to join us. I envision setting up my large 55' diameter purple "peace temple" tent at our various stops and inviting local people to share food or tea, learn about Grannies Respond, share inspirations, and create art and messages of support to deliver to the children and their families if at all possible.
COST: Suggested offering $300-400/person for the 10 day trip with meals. There will be a Go Fund Me to lower costs. If you can contribute more - awesome! If you can't contribute this much, but truly want to come, we will work to fundraise together.
From the Grannies Respond/Abuelas Respondes website:
"After impossibly long and deadly journeys, sometimes with children in tow, migrants are being moved around and new camps are being built. Because the news is changing daily, we will announce our final destination on the Texas border closer to our departure date.
Our goals at our destination are to deliver common sense in a way only your grandmother knows how. We are going to remind ICE, ORR, or whoever about how to treat people with decency and respect. We will demand to see the conditions in which the families are living. We will demand the reunion and release of kids and families. We will deliver joy and song to the imprisoned to give them hope. And we've got a few other tricks up our sleeves"
