Intern with WILPF-Madison

The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) - Madison Branch is seeking an Intern to begin as soon as possible. We would welcome discussing this position with you. Please reach out to us if you are interested in social, economic, environmental and gender justice advocacy.

Communications
Update the WILPF Madison website: blog posts, event reminders, pictures of WILPFMadison in action, featured activism and articles
Update Facebook page: events, WILPF-related articles, publicity for organizations we co-sponsor
Update resources list on website pages as new resources become available/others expire
 
Capacity-Building
Send regular updates to WILPF U.S. about what we’re doing in our branch
Collaborate with community organizations, and contribute to organization/sponsorship of community events
Apply to WILPF and other likely grant funders to promote peace and freedom locally
Network as a WILPF representative at community events
 
Community Outreach
Create and manage resources for metallic mining and water awareness campaign, a joint project of Madison WILPF and Colombia Support Network (CSN)
Help with publicity for WILPF events and events of supporting organizations: flyers, quarter sheets, word of mouth, internet communications
Connect with other people and community organizations working for social justice to create bridges and spaces for individuals to take action
Attend actions, marches, and protests as possible
Focus on connections with students
 
Other Activities
Attend WILPF Madison monthly meeting (6-8 pm 2nd Wed each month)
Maintain log of internship activities
Communicate regularly with Internship liaison(s) to track, troubleshoot and plan
 
Commitment
5-10 hours/week; 1 semester or longer (6 months to one year); no pay but great experience/resume builder/glowing references possible. Position priorities and time commitment may be modified by consensus.
