Call-in: to protect SNAP

Event Dates:
The Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, aka food stamps) is one of the most successful anti-poverty programs in the country.  SNAP provides food assistance to millions of hungry Americans.
The Farm Bill (HR 2) will make it harder for states to exempt some adults from the already harsh time-limits to receive SNAP if not working or in a training program.  The fact is the majority of SNAP recipients are working, and those who are not are mostly elderly, disabled, students, or caretakers, or live in high unemployment areas. Taking away a person’s nutrition support will do nothing to create jobs but will lead to increased hunger.
On  Tuesday, May 8, join in a national call-in day to protect SNAP. Feeding America has set up a toll free number for you to call: 1-888-398-8702.  You will be connected to your Representative's office by putting in your zip code. It is imperative that we let Congress know that we want them to "Vote NO on H.R. 2" because its rigid work rules will reduce or eliminate SNAP for millions. It will deny food to children, veterans, women, and people needing treatment and/or with disabilities.
Please help keep food on our nation’s dinner tables!
